2011-2012 Meetings

May 24, 2012 -

  1. CJ's goal is to have all 2012-13 budget requisition & PO's given to him by the end of this school year! MF please work with AS & TR to buy items needed for Tech Ed courses.
  2. Separate reference books from text books (we sell back the text books and dispose of the reference books). Put a work request into facilities. Facilities will pick them up and take them away. 
  3. Let me know if you have any summer assignments.
  4. TR - Think about replacing Dreamweaver with Kompozer.net in Applied III. (It's $119/PC for Dreamweaver upgrade.)
  5. Any monthly updates of "what's happening in our dept" to CJ
  6. AS & MF - Review chemicals list & identify each product so we can get back to Craig

Feb 22, 2012 -

  1. TR, BA, CM - Do we want access to each other's HandOut folders and/or an additional Shared folder between the 3 of us?
  2. check high school home page to make sure links & public info regarding your course scheduling information are correct
  3. JV needs an inventory of all textbooks. (BA 17 Word & 10 Excel; TR 41 Word & 47 Excel; MF/AS 14 Experience Technology © 1993)
  4. The 2011-12 budget cutoff date for purchase orders is March 1.
  5. RTI meeting in Room 424 at 2:20 pm on Mon Feb 27. See M Devlin & http://members.successforall.org with questions. You must take the folder of card stock strategies that you were given at the last meeting. Be ready to discuss the strategies you've tried (and listed on the previous feedback form) & share ideas.
  6. As a dept, we should forward monthly updates of "what's happening in our dept" to CJ
  7. Next year we will not be allowed to give quizzes, tests or projects during the midterm exam period. We will not be allowed to give more than 100 or so Scantron type questions.
  8. All items purchased by teachers must have pre-approval in order to be reimbursed.
  9. Do not buy gift cards with student activity funds for chaperones. All fundraisers must be pre-approved by principal & superintendent.

Dec. 14, 2011 -

  1. Midterm Exam Schedule: 1/10&1/11 is World Lang, Math, Business; 1/12&1/13 is English, Soc Stud, Computers, AP Stats; 1/17 makeups; 1/18&1/19 is Science, Art, AP Soc Stud electives; 1/20 & 1/23 makeups. Announce this to your students ASAP.
  2. Course #'s may change a bit next year with the new grading/admin software
  3. Make a list of effects that this year's budget cuts will have on your courses so I can forward them to CJ by our Break. For example, if we are using up existing inventory to get by this year, we need to let him know that.
  4. The parent conferences during the Act 80 half day on Jan 25 is not for every student. It is only for students who may fail or are sliding. It is always important to warn parents if students are failing. Make it "inconvenient" for students to fail even if they simply don't turn in assignments, etc. Note that teacher performances will eventually be based on student grades. Pass around the "Intervention Strategies Menu" list of RTI type teaching strategies for underperforming students.

  3. CM - eschoolbook: green - students don't see at all, purple - students do see but "I" is listed as overall grade, blue - students do see but it isn't included on their "outstanding" list of ass'ts, orange - students see and it counts as a zero
